The Merlin M828AU myQ Gateway is the central communication hub used to add myQ smart connectivity to compatible Merlin garage door and gate operators.
Once connected and configured with a compatible operator, the Gateway allows the door or gate to communicate with the myQ cloud, giving users remote access, monitoring, notifications and scheduling through the myQ App.
The M828AU is particularly useful for upgrading compatible Merlin operators such as the Commander Elite MS105MYQ, Commander Essential MS65MYQ and other myQ-enabled Merlin systems to smartphone control.

When installed as part of a compatible myQ system, the M828AU allows the garage door or gate to be monitored and controlled through the myQ App.

📡 Gateway Communication
The M828AU communicates wirelessly with compatible automation equipment.
Merlin notes that communication between the Gateway and compatible gate equipment relies on RF communication rather than Wi-Fi for that portion of the connection.
As a result, Gateway positioning can affect performance.
For best results, Merlin recommends locating the Gateway:
- Within suitable communication range of the operator
- Away from sources of interference
- Away from large metal surfaces where possible
- Where there is a clear RF signal path
Walls, metal structures and other sources of RF interference can reduce communication reliability.
🏠 Ideal for Existing Merlin Systems
The M828AU is particularly useful when upgrading an existing compatible Merlin garage door operator that already supports myQ but does not currently have the required Gateway installed.
Rather than replacing the complete garage door operator, the appropriate myQ connectivity equipment can be added to enable smart functionality.
🔄 Existing Remotes Continue to Work
Installing the M828AU does not replace the normal remote-control operation of the garage door.

Compatibility
The M828AU is designed for compatible Merlin myQ garage door and gate automation systems.
