Description
Reliable Safety Protection for Automated Doors & Gates
The Grifco GPS15 Safety Beams are a purpose-built infrared safety system designed specifically for Grifco commercial door operators and compatible control systems that use a 2-wire pulsed safety input.
Unlike traditional normally closed (NC) safety beams, the GPS15 operates using a monitored pulsed signal, allowing the control board to continuously verify correct operation of both the transmitter and receiver. This ensures a higher level of safety and fault detection in commercial and high-cycle environments.
Purpose-Built for Grifco Systems
The GPS15 beams are engineered to integrate directly with Grifco control boards that require a pulsed safety circuit. This makes them ideal for installations where standard dry-contact beams are not suitable.
The system ensures that any interruption, misalignment, or wiring fault is immediately detected by the controller, preventing unsafe operation.
Key Features
🛡️ Monitored Infrared Safety System
Uses a pulsed infrared beam and return signal to actively confirm correct operation—not just beam continuity.
⚙️ Designed for Commercial Operators
Optimised for Grifco roller door systems and other high-cycle industrial applications.
🔄 Fault Detection Built-In
Detects:
- Beam obstruction
- Misalignment
- Wiring faults
- Power loss
This provides a safer alternative to basic NC beam systems.
🌧️ Durable Construction
Weather-resistant housing suitable for indoor and outdoor installations.
🔧 Straightforward Installation
Simple 2-wire connection directly to compatible control boards—no additional relays required.
Benefits
For End Users
- Increased safety with active system monitoring
- Prevents doors closing when unsafe
- Reduces risk of undetected beam failure
For Installers
- Correct solution for Grifco pulsed inputs
- Eliminates need for interface relays or workarounds
- Faster installs on compatible systems
- Improved compliance with monitored safety requirements
How It Works
The GPS15 system uses a transmitter and receiver connected via a 2-wire monitored circuit:
- The transmitter sends a pulsed infrared signal
- The receiver returns a corresponding pulsed signal to the controller
- The control board continuously monitors this signal
- If the beam is interrupted or the signal is lost, the system triggers a stop or reverse
- Any fault condition (wiring, alignment, or power) is also detected immediately
Compatibility Notes (IMPORTANT)
- Designed for Grifco operators with 2-wire pulsed safety inputs
- Not compatible with standard NC (normally closed) safety beam inputs
- Cannot be used as a direct replacement for dry-contact beam systems
⚠️ Always confirm your control board requires a pulsed monitored beam before installation.
