Safetech Adjustable Tension Hinge With Legs – TopKLIK – SHG-90L
The Safetech TopKLIK SHG-90L is a premium adjustable-tension self-closing gate hinge featuring a two-leg mounting design for additional fixing support.
Designed for pedestrian, access and pool gates, the SHG-90L combines Safetech’s patented adjustable tension system with a strong glass-fibre reinforced polymer body, rust-resistant stainless-steel pins and springs, vertical adjustment and four selectable tension levels.
With a maximum holding capacity of 70kg and a self-closing capacity of 45kg under Safetech’s standard test conditions, the SHG-90L provides a versatile self-closing hinge solution for aluminium, steel and timber gate installations.
🔄 Adjustable Self-Closing Tension
The TopKLIK SHG-90L allows the closing force of the gate to be adjusted after installation.
Instead of relying on a permanently fixed spring force, the installer can progressively increase the self-closing tension to achieve reliable gate closing and latching.
This allows the hinge operation to be fine-tuned for the individual gate installation.
🔊 Patented TopKLIK Adjustment System
Safetech’s patented tension adjustment system uses a simple supplied Allen key to adjust the hinge.
Turning the adjustment mechanism clockwise increases the spring tension.
As the tension increases, the hinge produces a defined click, allowing the installer to monitor how much tension has been applied.
This provides a simple and repeatable method of setting the closing force.

The SHG-90L provides up to four tension adjustments per hinge.
Safetech recommends increasing the tension one click per hinge at a time and checking the gate operation after each adjustment.
Where possible, approximately equal tension should be maintained between the upper and lower hinges.
This allows the closing force to be progressively increased without unnecessarily over-tensioning the gate.

The supplied adjustment tool provides straightforward control over the self-closing tension.
To increase tension:

- Increase one click at a time
- Adjust each hinge progressively

The tool can also be used to release the hinge tension when required.

⚠️ Please Note
Safetech specifies a maximum holding weight of 70kg and a maximum closing weight of 45kg for the SHG-90L.
These ratings are based on a standard test gate measuring approximately 900mm wide x 1200mm high.
Gates exceeding these dimensions can place additional leverage on the hinges and may reduce their effective holding and self-closing capacity.
The 70kg holding capacity should not be confused with the 45kg closing capacity. For a self-closing installation, the gate must remain within the appropriate closing capacity.
When adjusting the hinges, Safetech recommends increasing the tension one click per hinge at a time and checking the gate after each adjustment.
A maximum of four tension clicks per hinge is permitted.
Where possible, aim for an equal number of tension clicks on the upper and lower hinges.
For pool gates, Safetech specifies a minimum distance of 900mm between the tops of the hinges. If this cannot be achieved, the supplied safety cone must be installed on the bottom hinge.
The gate must be capable of reliably self-closing from the required open positions.
Safetech specifies that these hinges are designed for non-automated gates. Use for other purposes may affect performance.
The complete gate, hinge and latch installation must comply with all applicable regulations where used as part of a pool or safety barrier.
