Description
The Concealed Drop Seal is an automatic bottom door seal designed to be recessed into the bottom edge of a door, providing a clean and discreet sealing solution without a permanently exposed surface-mounted seal.
As the door closes, the internal mechanism automatically lowers the sealing strip against the floor. When the door opens, the seal retracts back into the aluminium housing, allowing the door to move freely without the seal dragging across the floor.
The product is based on the concealed aluminium drop-down bottom seal design shown in the supplied manufacturer listing.
🚪 Concealed Installation
The aluminium body is designed to be recessed into the bottom of the door, keeping the drop seal largely hidden once installed.
This provides a much cleaner finished appearance than conventional surface-mounted door seals and makes it particularly suitable for architectural and custom entry doors.
⚙️ Automatic Drop-Down Operation
The seal automatically lowers when the door reaches the closed position.
When the door is opened, the mechanism retracts the seal back into the aluminium housing.
This automatic action means the sealing strip only contacts the floor when required, helping prevent unnecessary dragging and wear as the door opens and closes.
🛡️ Helps Seal the Bottom Door Gap
Once deployed, the drop seal closes the gap between the bottom of the door and the finished floor.
This can help reduce the passage of:
- Draughts
- Dust
- Insects
- Light
- Smoke and airborne particles
- Noise
The effectiveness of the seal will depend on the door, floor surface, installation and surrounding construction.
🔇 Improved Acoustic & Environmental Sealing
By closing the otherwise open gap beneath the door, the concealed drop seal can contribute to improved acoustic and environmental separation between adjoining areas.
It is particularly useful where maintaining a clean architectural appearance is important while still providing an effective bottom seal.
🔩 Aluminium Construction
The drop seal uses an aluminium body designed to be installed within the bottom edge of the door.
Once correctly fitted, the main mechanism remains protected inside the door while the retractable sealing section operates automatically as the door opens and closes.
🏠 Ideal for Custom Entry Doors
The concealed design makes this seal particularly well suited to custom aluminium and architectural entry doors where a conventional externally mounted bottom seal would detract from the appearance of the door.
It can be incorporated into the door during manufacture or installed where the door construction provides sufficient space for the concealed housing.
