Description

The e-Loop E-KP is a wireless access control keypad designed for use with compatible e-Loop e-Trans transceivers, providing convenient PIN-code access for automatic gates, doors and access control systems.

Rather than requiring control cabling between the keypad and gate operator, the E-KP communicates wirelessly with the compatible e-Trans transceiver. This makes it particularly useful for retrofit installations, pedestrian entrances, driveway gates and locations where installing additional underground cabling would be difficult or disruptive.

The E-KP forms part of the wider e-Loop wireless access control ecosystem, allowing keypad access, E-TX remote controls and e-Loop vehicle detection to be incorporated into the same gate automation platform.

🔢 Wireless Keypad Access

The E-KP provides convenient PIN-code access to a compatible automatic gate or access control system.

An authorised user enters their programmed access code into the keypad and the command is transmitted wirelessly to the paired e-Trans transceiver.

The e-Trans then activates the appropriate relay output connected to the gate or access control controller.

This provides convenient access without requiring the user to carry:

  • A gate remote
  • A physical key
  • An access card
  • Another handheld credential

📡 Wireless Connection to the Gate

One of the major advantages of the E-KP is its wireless connection to the compatible e-Trans transceiver.

There is no requirement to install a control cable between the keypad and the gate operator.

This makes the E-KP particularly useful for:

  • Existing automatic gates
  • Finished driveways
  • Pedestrian entrances
  • Retrofit installations
  • Gate posts away from the operator
  • Sites where trenching is difficult
  • Locations where additional cabling is undesirable

The e-Trans provides the physical interface between the wireless keypad and the automation controller.

🚪 Automatic Gate Access

The E-KP can be used to provide PIN-code entry through an automatic driveway gate.

A typical operating sequence is:

  1. The user approaches the keypad.
  2. The authorised access code is entered.
  3. The E-KP transmits the command wirelessly.
  4. The paired e-Trans receives the command.
  5. The appropriate relay output activates.
  6. The gate controller receives the opening command.
  7. The automatic gate opens.

This provides a simple method of allowing authorised users to enter the property without issuing every user with a remote control.

🏡 Residential Applications

The E-KP is well suited to residential automatic gate installations.

Typical applications include:

  • Private driveway gates
  • Sliding gates
  • Swing gates
  • Pedestrian gates
  • Gated properties

The E-KP is designed as part of the complete e-Loop wireless access control platform.

A compatible system can combine several types of wireless devices including:

  • E-KP wireless keypads
  • E-TX remote controls
  • e-Loop vehicle detectors

These devices communicate with the compatible e-Trans transceiver, which then interfaces with the automatic gate or access control controller.

This provides a flexible platform that can combine vehicle detection and user access control within the same system.

🚗 Combine Keypad Access with e-Loop Detection

One of the major benefits of the e-Loop ecosystem is the ability to combine controlled entry with automatic vehicle exit.

For example, a property can use:

  • E-KP keypad for controlled vehicle entry
  • e-Loop detector for automatic vehicle exit
  • E-TX remotes for regular authorised users

All devices can form part of the same compatible e-Trans system.

This provides a convenient complete access solution without relying on conventional wired vehicle loops or separate radio systems.

🎮 Combine with E-TX Remotes

The E-KP can be used alongside compatible E-TX remote controls.

Regular users can operate the gate using their E-TX remote, while other authorised users can gain access using the keypad.

This is particularly useful for:

  • Homes
  • Apartment buildings
  • Gated communities
  • Commercial premises
  • Staff entrances
  • Shared access systems

It allows different access methods to be provided according to the requirements of each user.

🚧 Excellent for Retrofit Installations

Installing a conventional wired keypad at an existing gate can require:

  • Trenching
  • Conduit installation
  • New control cable
  • Cutting finished surfaces
  • Running cable through existing structures

The wireless E-KP can significantly simplify this process.

Because the keypad communicates wirelessly with the e-Trans, the need for a dedicated control cable between the keypad and gate controller is eliminated.

This makes the E-KP particularly attractive when upgrading an existing automatic gate.

🏗️ Ideal Where Cabling Is Difficult

The E-KP can provide a practical access control solution where conventional keypad cabling would be difficult to install.

Typical examples include:

  • Finished concrete driveways
  • Paved entrances
  • Existing gate posts
  • Separate pedestrian gates
  • Stone walls
  • Remote gate pillars
  • Existing landscaped areas
  • Completed commercial developments

The wireless connection provides considerably more flexibility when selecting the keypad installation position.

🚶 Pedestrian Access

Where the connected gate controller provides a pedestrian opening input, the E-KP can potentially be configured to activate the pedestrian function.

This allows an authorised user to enter a PIN and partially open a compatible swing or sliding gate for pedestrian access.

The available function depends on:

  • e-Trans configuration
  • Available relay channels
  • Gate controller inputs
  • Gate controller programming

A separate pedestrian gate can also be controlled where the connected access control equipment supports the required function.

🔄 Multiple Access Functions

When paired with a multi-channel e-Trans transceiver, the E-KP can form part of a system providing multiple access functions.

Depending on the system configuration, potential functions can include:

  • Main vehicle gate opening
  • Pedestrian gate opening
  • Pedestrian opening of the main gate
  • Second gate operation
  • Boom gate activation
  • Automatic door activation
  • Auxiliary access control functions

The exact functions depend on the capabilities of the paired e-Trans and connected automation controller.

🏘️ Ideal for Shared Access

Wireless keypad access is particularly useful for properties where many people require occasional or regular access.

Typical applications include:

  • Apartment buildings
  • Townhouse developments
  • Gated communities
  • Shared residential driveways
  • Commercial properties
  • Staff car parks

A keypad can reduce the number of physical remote controls that need to be issued.

🔑 Convenient Visitor Access

The E-KP provides a convenient access method for authorised visitors who do not have an E-TX remote.

Rather than supplying an additional handheld transmitter, the user can access the property through the keypad according to the programmed access configuration.

This can be useful for:

  • Family members
  • Staff
  • Contractors
  • Service personnel
  • Regular visitors
  • Property maintenance personnel

Access codes should always be managed appropriately and changed when no longer required.

📡 Compatible e-Trans Integration

The E-KP does not connect directly to the gate operator.

Instead, the wireless command is received by the compatible e-Trans transceiver.

The e-Trans provides the relay connection to the gate controller.

This architecture allows the E-KP to be used with many different gate automation systems because the gate controller simply receives a conventional relay command from the e-Trans.

🖥️ Advanced e-Trans Management

When the E-KP is used with an advanced e-Trans model such as the e-Trans 200, keypad devices can form part of a larger managed access control installation.

The e-Trans 200 supports multiple wireless access devices and provides an integrated LCD interface for programming and system management.

This makes the combination particularly useful for larger residential and commercial installations.

4️⃣ Multiple Keypads with e-Trans 200
