Safetech Gravity Latch – Double Sided – SLV-X2
The Safetech SLV-X2 Viper is a premium double-sided gravity gate latch designed to provide reliable latching and convenient gate operation from both sides.
Unlike conventional gravity latches that can become obstructed by dirt, leaves and other debris collecting around their guiding slots, the Viper uses two independent latching hooks without traditional guiding means.
This innovative design helps reduce the risk of the latch hooks jamming before they engage the latching bar, providing dependable operation for frequently used outdoor pedestrian gates.
The SLV-X2 features a main latch and secondary slave latch connected through the gate post, allowing the gate to be conveniently released from either side.
It is also key lockable, adjustable horizontally and vertically, reversible for left or right-hand gate installations and manufactured from durable engineered polymers with rust-resistant stainless-steel components.
🔄 Double-Sided Gate Operation

⚠️ Please Note
The SLV-X2 is the double-sided version of the Safetech Viper gravity latch.
Installation requires a connecting rod to pass through the gate post between the main and slave latch assemblies.
Safetech specifies drilling a 13–16mm hole through the post for the connecting rod.
The connecting rod must be accurately cut according to the width of the gate post. Safetech provides increment markings on the rod and specifies that these markings must face upwards when installed.
Incorrect connecting-rod length or orientation may prevent the double-sided latch mechanism from operating correctly.
Safetech also advises not to insert the key into the lock until installation is complete.
Where re-keying to a compatible house key is required, Safetech recommends taking the latch to a locksmith before installation.
Correct horizontal and vertical alignment is essential to ensure both gravity hooks reliably engage the latching bar.
After installation, repeatedly open and close the gate from both sides to confirm that the main and slave latch mechanisms operate correctly and the gravity hooks securely engage.
Do not use petroleum-based lubricants such as WD-40 on Safetech polymer components. Safetech advises that petroleum-based lubricants can cause deterioration of the polymer over time.
