Grifco Safety Beams – GPS15
The Grifco GPS15 Safety Beam Kit is a monitored reflective photoelectric safety system designed for commercial and industrial automatic door applications.
Using a single photoelectric sensor and reflector, the GPS15 creates an infrared safety beam across the door opening. If a person, vehicle or other obstruction interrupts the beam while the door is closing, the connected Grifco operator can stop and reverse the door to help prevent entrapment, injury or property damage.
🛡️ Monitored Entrapment Protection
Unlike a basic photocell, the GPS15 is a monitored entrapment protection device.
The compatible Grifco control system continually monitors the safety device so that the integrity of the protection system forms part of the door’s safety operation.
Grifco specifies its monitored entrapment protection systems for applications requiring compliance with the relevant requirements of AS/NZS 60335.1 and AS/NZS 60335.2.103.
🔴 Reflective Safety Beam
The GPS15 uses a reflective beam arrangement rather than separate transmitter and receiver units.
The photoelectric sensor is installed on one side of the door opening, with the supplied reflector positioned directly opposite.
This means electrical wiring is only required on one side of the opening, simplifying installation compared with conventional send-and-receive photocells that require wiring on both sides.
📏 Up to 15m Operating Range
The GPS15 is designed for door openings from approximately 1.5m through to 15m wide, making it suitable for everything from smaller commercial sectional doors through to large industrial openings.
Grifco specifies the GPS15 reflective safety beam for door widths up to 15 metres.

The GPS15 is also offered by Grifco as part of complete S-Drive operator packages.

Monitored safety beams are particularly important where automatic closing functions are used.
The beam provides non-contact obstruction detection across the door opening, allowing the control system to respond before the closing door makes contact with a person, vehicle or other obstruction.
