Safetech Polymer Gate Stop – SGSS
The Safetech SGSS Polymer Gate Stop is a compact gate stop designed to provide a positive closing point for swing gates while helping reduce gate slamming, rattling and unnecessary wear on gate hardware.
Manufactured from durable engineered polymer with rust-resistant stainless-steel fasteners, the SGSS is Safetech’s standard-size gate stop and is ideal for residential and general-purpose swing gate installations.
Suitable for aluminium, steel, timber and vinyl gates.
🚪 Standard-Size Gate Stop
The SGSS is the standard-size model in Safetech’s Polymer Gate Stop range.
Its compact design makes it ideal for typical pedestrian and swing gate installations where a dedicated mechanical stopping point is required without the larger dimensions of a heavy-duty gate stop.
For larger and heavier gates, Safetech also produces the larger SGSL Heavy-Duty Polymer Gate Stop.

A correctly positioned gate stop provides a defined resting point for the gate when it reaches the closed position.
This prevents the gate from continually travelling past its intended closing position and helps prevent the latch and hinges from having to absorb the full closing force of the gate.

The SGSS is particularly useful on spring-loaded and self-closing gates.
As a self-closing gate returns to the closed position, the gate can place repeated impact loads on the latch and surrounding hardware.

Only three fixing holes are required to install the standard SGSS gate stop.

Safetech recommends positioning the gate stop approximately one-third to one-quarter of the way up from the bottom of the gate.
