Safetech Fixed Tension Hinges – AlfaHinge – SHF-90L
The Safetech AlfaHinge SHF-90L is a pair of fixed-tension self-closing gate hinges designed for pedestrian, garden and pool-gate applications where reliable automatic closing is required.
Manufactured from durable fibre-reinforced engineered polymer with rust-resistant stainless-steel pins and springs, the SHF-90L provides a corrosion-resistant and economical alternative to conventional metal gate hinges.
The SHF-90L features a two-leg mounting design for additional support, vertical gate adjustment and a factory-set self-closing spring tension that requires no tension adjustment during installation.
🚪 Fixed-Tension Self-Closing Design
The SHF-90L incorporates a fixed internal spring designed to automatically return the gate towards the closed position after it has been opened.
Unlike Safetech’s adjustable-tension hinge ranges, the closing tension of the SHF-90L is factory set.
This provides a simple self-closing solution where adjustable spring tension is not required.

⚠️ Please Note
Safetech specifies a maximum holding weight of 28kg and a maximum self-closing weight of 15kg for the SHF-90L hinge pair.
These ratings are based on a standard test gate measuring approximately 900mm wide x 1200mm high.
Gates exceeding these dimensions can place additional leverage on the hinges and may reduce their effective holding and self-closing capacity.
The 28kg holding capacity should not be confused with the 15kg closing capacity. For a self-closing installation, the gate must remain within the appropriate closing capacity.
The SHF-90L has fixed factory-set spring tension and cannot be adjusted. If adjustable closing tension is required, a suitable Safetech adjustable-tension hinge should be selected instead.
Safetech specifies that these hinges are designed for non-automated gates.
For pool-gate installations, Safetech specifies a minimum distance of 900mm between the tops of the fixed-tension hinges. The complete gate installation must also comply with all applicable pool-barrier regulations and requirements.
